This is a sequence based introductory course to the basic ideas and techniques of art concepts, art media, art history and dimensional art. This beginning course explores the fundamentals of drawing and the elements of art (line, value, texture, and shape vs. form, perspective, and color). Students will create in a variety of media: pencil, charcoal, colored pencils, acrylics, watercolors, etc. Art 1 A/B is designed for the beginning artist who will learn about the principles and elements of art. Students will learn some basic elements of Art. Art 1 A/B will help you learn about different materials, artists from the past and their significance, and give you the opportunity to create. Art 1 A/B will work with students who have newly developed knowledge of the principles and elements of art. Art 1 A/B will extend the knowledge and allows the student to practice and to try different mediums in the process. Emphasis is placed on the elements and principles of design in both two and three-dimensional artworks.
