Overview

As a member of our Data Services team, you will be part of an agile and collaborative environment where you will create reports and dashboards using the Microsoft Report Service, meet with stakeholders to understand new report/data requirements, and implement optimal data solutions. You will be an expert on our product’s data structures and models, evaluate the impact of new requirements on existing reports and data processes, and build creative solutions to optimize report performance, preserve data integrity and integrate with 3rd party data sources. You will also become an active contributor on all of our BI projects, and can expect to sharpen your data warehouse experience using data marts and dashboards in Tableau.

Responsibilities

  • Create new reports and maintain pre-existing reports in SSRS
  • Create star schema data models, perform ETLs and validate results with stakeholders
  • Create and maintain data distribution between our internal and 3rd party data sources using SFTP and/or APIs
  • Support our BI solutions; monitor and fine-tune queries and data loads, address user questions concerning data integrity, proactively monitor performance and communicate functional and technical issues.
  • Data cleansing, report performance optimization, troubleshooting data inconsistencies, identify and resolve data integrity issues
  • Create and maintain SSRS and Tableau dashboard reports
  • Support and resolve escalated data service-related support tickets with the Application Support Specialist team
  • Create and customize Data Warehouse data marts as needed
  • Assist with operational database administrative support as needed

Work independently, self-prioritize and track multiple projects and communicate effectively – provide progress updates and report any impediments the may block time-sensitive deliverables.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server (2012 and 2016 editions)
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft T-SQL query language
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Report Service
  • Expert knowledge with Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, including data transformation, summarization and pivoting techniques
  • Ability to conceptualize, create, and explain analytical regressions
  • Ability to translate business requirements to technical specifications
  • Attention to detail; careful and thoughtful analysis of the data in order to derive correct conclusions
  • Good written and oral communication skills

 

Preferred:

·         Experience with MS SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)

·         Knowledge of SFTP file transfer and API interfaces for data exchange

  • Experience working major BI tools (SSRS, Tableau, Looker, etc)

·         Experience on the design, deployment, maintenance of Data Warehouse data marts, STAR schema models

·         Experience using a scripting or object-oriented programming language

·         Knowledge of 2016 Microsoft Report Service’s Mobile reporting

 

Education / Experience:

·         Academic background in Statistics, Computer Science, or Information Management

·         Relevant experience in a report development, data science, business analytics, business intelligence or comparable data engineering role, including data warehousing and business intelligence tools, techniques and technology

·         Solid understanding of relational and dimensional database structures, theories, principles, and practices
