  • Overview

    The prime directive of this position is to develop standards-aligned, digital and paper-based curriculum for the 6-12 grade independent study school setting. The Curriculum Developer will work with the Curriculum Department in developing new curriculum to support students in improving academic skills and to advance school-wide goals. 



    • Collaborates with other curriculum developers to establish standards-based learning outcomes for courses.
    • Authors scope and sequences, curriculum maps, Learning Targets, and Learning Objectives, collaboratively
    • Designs standards-aligned formative and summative assessments using appropriate testing methods both within a digital environment and paper-based
    • Uses research-based instructional strategies while working with Instructional Designers to create digital curriculum within Learning Management System
    • Uses research-based instructional strategies to author paper-based curriculum
    • Uses various data to make adjustments and revisions to curriculum and assessments to increase student learning results
    • Reviews and provides feedback to other Curriculum Developers’ lessons and assessments
    • Maintains organized tracking of progress on projects in a timely and accurate manner to Lead Curriculum Developer
    • Researches and incorporates current curriculum trends and keeps abreast of changes in curriculum design.
    • Supports the training of teachers and other school staff on new curriculum
    • Assists contracted curriculum writers in designing core and elective curriculum.
    • Assists in writing and submitting A-G list submissions for company.
    • Assists in editing, reviewing, and formatting new Independent Study curriculum.
    • Participates as a part of the Curriculum, Assessment and Accountability team.
    • Assists with other functions and duties as assigned by Lead Developer


    Education and Experience:

    • Prior experience working within LMS required (Canvas preferred)
    • Some experience working with Adobe Creative Suite, (InDesign preferred)
    • Ability to work with and meet deadlines for development
    • Comprehensive knowledge of instructional design, curriculum trends and curriculum design methods.
    • Editing and proofing
    • Comprehensive knowledge of assessment types and their appropriate uses and functions.
    • Ability to analyze data appropriately
    • Ability to independently take initiative and work efficiently, exercising reasonable judgment in a fast-paced, multi-task environment.
    • Strong written, presentation and communication skills.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to travel as needed.
    • 2-3 years’ experience with Adobe Creative Suite
    • 2-3 years’ experience building curriculum in digital LMS
    • Possession of a California Teaching Credential required
